Daphne Goring

Daphne Goring is a Professor in the Department of Cell & Systems at the University of Toronto. She is the Vice-President of the Canadian Society of Plant Biologists and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Daphne Goring’s research investigates the cellular mechanisms that discriminate between compatible and self-incompatible pollen grains in the Brassicaceae to regulate sexual reproduction. More specifically, her research explores the cellular signalling pathways in the Brassicaceae pistils that control the recognition and rejection of self-pollen to prevent inbreeding (self-incompatibility pathway), and the delivery of resources to compatible pollen to promote pollen hydration and germination (compatible pollen response pathway).
